Safety
General Club Policies
- A valid membership card should be on you while on club property.
- New members must schedule a range and facilities orientation, this can be requested through a club officer during a monthly club meeting.
- All damaged or defective club property or equipment must be reported to a club officer. Club officer contact information can be found on our home tab.
- Follow all posted safety signs on ranges.
- The red flag must be raised on the flag pole when the 200 yard rifle range is in use. The red flag signifies STOP range IN USE.
- No shooting, gun handling, reloading, etc. any time someone else is down range.
- Fishing at the pond is only permissible when the 200 and 1000 yard range are not in use.
- Target shooting is only permitted on ranges. No target shooting is permitted on the day of the primary and general elections, regulated fishing hours, and rentals. The use of our 1000 yard range is only permitted during scheduled dates.
- Clean up all brass, targets and other trash before you leave.
- .300 Win Mag is the max caliber permitted for steel targets on the rifle range.
- Pistol calibers only on the pistol range targets (steel and bowling pin)
- Do not shoot steel targets on the pistol range under 15 yards away.
- Members utilizing the indoor range may only use the following ammunition: .22 Long Rifle Rimfire, .22 Long Rimfire, .22 Short Rimfire, Air Guns .25 caliber or smaller under 1300 feet per second.
- Only 22LR may be used on the indoor range.
- Turn on the ventilation for the indoor range prior to shooting.
- During hall rentals no use of the pond or ranges is permitted.
- You are responsible for your guest and any damages.
- Junior members under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or responsible adult in the range and pond areas.
- No deliberate firing at the target frames or posts.
- All treestands must must be registered with the club and can only secured to the tree during posted dates.
- All Pennsylvania hunting & fishing regulations must be adhered to at all times.
- Swimming in the pond is prohibited.
1000 Yard Range Safety
- .The use of our clubs 1000 yard range is only permissible on scheduled practice days and scheduled event days.
- Specific 1000yd range safety & procedures have been established. To review this information go to the 1000YD Range Tab.
- During scheduled practice & event days portions of our club will be closed, this includes the club house, 200 yard range & the pond. Signs will be posted notifying closure. Check the events tab for practice & event days.
- Range Safety Officers (RSO) will be scheduled and present on all practice & event days.
- A range safety brief will be held prior to the commencement of shooting activities on the range.
- Shooters must pre-qualify to shoot on the range by an approved member of the range committee. Scheduled pre-qualification dates will be posted on the events tab.
When handling a gun, follow these three fundamental rules:
- ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
- ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
- ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
When using or storing a gun, always follow these nine important rules:
- Know your target and what is beyond it.
- Know how to use the gun safely.
- Be sure the gun is safe to operate.
- Use only the correct ammunition for your gun.
- Wear eye and ear protection as appropriate.
- Never use alcohol or over-the-counter, prescription or other drugs or while shooting.
- Store guns so they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.
- Be aware that certain types of guns and many shooting activities require additional safety precautions.
